Your first visit can be broken down into three simple steps. Please read below to see what you can do now, to get on the walls quicker when you arrive.
Step One (Waiver – 2-5 mins)
Every single visitor to Ground Up Climbing who plans to set foot on the mats must have a waiver signed and in our database. You have options with this:
Option 1: (easier) Fill out the WAIVER before you come in to streamline your climbing experience.
Option 2: Fill it out when you come in the door.
*Please note: Participants under the age of 19 years old must have their parent or legal guardian sign and fill out the waiver. *
Step Two (Belay check options – 20 mins)
If you already have experience belaying and feel confident in your skills, you have the option to take a top rope and/or lead check. Upon passing you will receive a facility certification to use the ropes.
Step Three (Orientation- 5 minutes)
You will now be given a facility orientation. This includes a bouldering orientation where you will learn how to fall properly and understand our grading system.
If you were really hoping to just on the ropes and do not have the skills to belay then you can book an introductory belay lesson, GROUND SCHOOL. Before you come! Learn the skills and get comfortable with the “how and why”of climbing with ropes.
Step Four – Climb!
What to Wear
Clothes that move with you, similar to what you would wear hiking or to a yoga class. pants or longer shorts are recommended to make wearing a harness more comfortable. Please come ready to wear something on your feet at all times- flip flops, shoes, slippers or socks- as we have a “no barefoot” policy.
